Peer observation
A practice for individual and collective teaching professional development
Process
Phase A:
Create the pairs
The pairs of teachers will be formed voluntarily. It is not necessary that the two teachers have a good previous relationship or affinities; what is important is to have the will to learn from each other and share an element or common interest in improving an aspect of teaching performance.

In this initial session, the following aspects can be discussed, among others:
-
Do we have previous experiences in peer observation (individual or in the school)?
-
Are there shared teaching spaces in the school? Could it be interesting to start the experience from these spaces?
-
What resistances can we detect in relation to the experience? How can we minimize them?
-
What can the experience be useful for: on an individual level, as a team and as a school? What opportunities do we see there?
-
How could we document it to be able to make an evidence-based return and avoid subjective interpretations?
We suggest you watch and comment on this video by Begoña de la Iglesia and Maria Rosa Rosselló (UIB) about the professionalizing value of peer observation.

In this session, it may be interesting to watch the video of the general procedure of peer observation in the Xarxa de Competències that you have below. In this link you will find a didactic guide of the video, which allows you to work on the content in more depth.
