Peer observation
A practice for individual and collective teaching professional development
Process
Observation session
In this session:

-
Prior to the session, students will be informed of the practice of peer observation.
-
The observer, located not far from the partner—to be able to record the sound and the image if agreed—will actively observe the session, with the help of the table with indicators to facilitate the observation, where they can also note the moment in which the observations occur, to locate them easily in case the session is recorded. The observer must not intervene in the session and must ensure that their presence is discreet and respectful.
-
At the end, the observed person will write a short text, which they will have to take to the feedback session, evaluating the session. Aspects such as the following can be collected:
-
How did I feel about being observed?
-
What do I think I have achieved during the class?
-
What am I most satisfied with?
-
Did my students learn what I intended?
-
Were my students productively engaged in the activities?
-
Am I satisfied with the planning, selection of resources, teaching strategies and assessment?
-
What did not work and why?
-
If I were to sign in again, would anything change? Why?
-
What have I discovered about myself as a teacher?
-
Have I noticed any improvement after my practice?
